Hiring Manager Interview
We do Software Technology Asset Management (TAM), our team is responsible for reducing risk and finiding optimization opportunities in software and hardware. Ideally SaaS based. Industry moved from perpetual liscensing to a monthly liscensing
This team looks for trends in data and turning it into opportuinities in optimization as well as actions of people purchasing softawre through their portal. Thats one area of TAM called reducing Shadow IT Spend
Another opportunity is purchasing so we have multiple agreeements for the same software, this role looks at data and duplicates and looks for opportunities to consolidate and also negotiate better pricing on Software Assets
Renewal perspective: understanding contracts and how thta can leverage abilitys
highest skill is Data Analytics and turning that data into meaningful changes
Also techinical pieces, Zilo is the tool we use to managage our softwarre but honestly TAM is still niche. I can teach principles of TAM easy but they have to understand data and how to put it together in Zilo and thats our tool
SNOW is a tool that is heavily used in this role because requests come throug it from dif. membner of community
This indvidual gleams data analytics from within Zilo
Like I say data analytics is incredibly imp. and turning that into meaningful information and abilty to deliver that information to higher levels.
Q&A
This is big picture software TAM? It is macro level but depending on the use it can get to individual userers as well
managing software renewls? This role does not process renewal. This role utilizes that info from a contract req. For instance a renewal can have multiple dates
Say I have 3 softwares all 3 have different exp dates. So we want to look at the one that renews first and this role is the one that brings visibility to that need.
Zilo must have? No if familiarity with other. I will say Zilo is one of most intuitive, I would expecta anyone with software TAM exp will likely know Zilo lets just say SNOW is clunky in comparison to Zilo
Bachelors must have? not must have
Open to hire a strong BSA or strong Data analyst with strong skills? Yes I agree with tah
Really strong, open to REMOTE? Unfortunatley given previous issues leadership requires onsite 3 days per week
Someone who has created data dashboards and done reporting at business level is important? This is very imp this is requirment. Much of my team is weak in this department and this candidate will fill that gap.
Dig in further on reporting do you have preference Tableau or Power BI? Exp in either is great, Power BI we use more often but someone good in Tableau is usally good in Power BI. How they get there I dont necessarily care its the quality I will rate.
