The Hartford's Small Commercial organization is upgrading its front end business processing system. The Sr. Business Analyst will partner with product owners to achieve business outcomes being delivered as part of this upgrade.
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual who is responsible for gathering business requirements, documenting as user stories, as well as working closely with developers and testers to ensure business expectations are met.
Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, ability to partner with business and IT stakeholders and associated agile team. In addition, candidates are expected to demonstrate solid business acumen as well as experience in agile feature and user story refinement.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities:
Provides guidance to staff, management and project teams in the area of business analysis.Possesses functional knowledge and skills reflective of a competent practitioner with the ability to deliver on work of highest technical complexity.Acts as liaison between the business and IT. Aides team members' elicitation efforts through help selecting approaches and identification of gaps / areas to explore.Identifies effectiveness of techniques on the fly and adjusts approach properly.Selects the appropriate tools and techniques based on assessment of the project and assignment objectives. Mentors team members to drive awareness of new approaches and improve execution of known techniques. Ability to structure and drive working and informational sessions that promote collaboration, achieve synergy, and achieve desired outcomes.Designs all aspects of meetings to ensure fast, effective accomplishment of objectives.Actively manages participants creating distractions / diversions counter to desired outcomes.Understanding and application of choices and big picture perspective.Identifies choices and improvement opportunities to better align own work with the direction and strategic priorities of the broader organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, with an advanced degree preferred, and at least five, typically seven years of solid, diverse work experience in IT; or an equivalent combination of education and work experienceRequires an extensive knowledge of the business area's functions and knowledge of system and technology alternatives, excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staffExpert facilitatorStrong leadership skillsStrong presentation skillsStrong conflict resolution skillsFluent with vendor management

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
