Role:
The Senior Accountant - Revenue Accounting will join a dynamic technology-enabled Controllership team and will be a critical member within the Global Revenue Accounting team. In addition to assisting with financial closes, this role will assist in fostering continued technology enablement to drive efficiencies and provide senior management with data driven insights (via usage of Workiva, Power BI, Alteryx, Generative AI large language models and other leading-edge technologies). The Senior Accountant-Revenue Accounting will report to the VP - Revenue Accounting (New York) on a variety of revenue accounting and reporting tasks.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and/or review monthly revenue journal entries
Prepare account and system reconciliations and detailed analysis to support balance sheet accounts (i.e., deferred revenue, unbilled receivable, unapplied cash); identify and resolve variances
Assist in enablement of leading-edge technology to foster efficiencies and support an environment of continuous monitoring
Research and advise how certain revenue transactions are treated within the framework of ASC 606
Keep informed on issues that will impact billing, AR and revenue recognition processes
Assist in preparation of the Company's reserves for credit losses; including implementation of technology to automate the process and drive meaningful insight on trends to the business
Assist in driving the continuous evolution of processes and efficiencies, including automation of manual tasks
Perform fluctuation analysis for balance sheet and revenue accounts enabling data-driven insights to key stakeholders
Provide support on ad hoc projects including testing and documentation of current and new systems
Understand billing practices for each line of business and their impact on revenue recognition
Liaise with international offices to obtain general ledger information processed locally
Understand and ensure compliance with internal controls and Moody's global accounting policies; review and update documentation for procedures as needed
Troubleshoot issues that arise in the department
Additional duties / special projects as assigned by your manager
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting required
3+ years related experience
Previous public accounting experience or related experience in a revenue accounting function is preferred
Strong knowledge of the key principles of ASC 606
CPA is preferred (or commencement of licensing process)
Experience with leading-edge technologies (i.e., Microsoft Power BI; Alteryx; generative AI large language models)
Forward thinker, embraces change and the continuous evolution of processes
Knowledge of SAP financial system and BlackLine is a plus, but not necessary
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and perform in a quick paced environment
Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to details are a must

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is [[$76,200]] to [[$110,400]] , depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
