Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH Wireless is looking for a Senior Engineer 5G RAN to join our team. As a key contributor working closely with Engineering and Operations Teams, the successful candidate will provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support, specializing in RU and RAN/vRAN/ORAN technologies.
In this role, you will take the lead in developing operational and assurance standards, ensuring that our radio access networks not only meet but surpass design specifications. Your responsibilities will include the analysis of service and system issues, identifying root causes of failures, and formulating effective corrective actions. From configuration changes to the development of new operational procedures, you will play a critical role in enhancing our network performance.
Additionally, you will actively contribute to ongoing process improvement reviews, utilizing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics. Your insights and efforts will be focused on eliminating errors, optimizing hardware/software efficiencies, and increasing service uptime. Ultimately, your contributions will be instrumental in delivering an exceptional overall customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in vendor engineering reviews of hardware/software development in lab proof-of-concept environmentsProvide lead support with Market Teams to troubleshoot/resolve complex issues with deployed RF and RAN systemsEngage and escalate issues with vendors when critical/time-sensitive support and resolution are neededDevelop key metrics for performance monitoring and service assuranceCoordinates proposed changes with Certification Lab(s) for validationWill produce updated technical specifications of system changes and provide a comprehensive release planEnsures solutions meet key criteria for CI/CD, system orchestration, and automationWorks with technical writers/engineers to document final process configurations and MOPs to support Field OperationsThis position may provide on-call support on a rotational basisSkills, Experience and Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
BS or MS in Engineering or technical degree or an equivalent combination of highly related experience and education7+ years of experience in the wireless industrySkills and Qualifications:
A passion for working on new technologies in a fast-paced and frequently changing environmentMust be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization through conventional methods (verbal and written)Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with technical and non-technical teamsExtensive understanding in 5G ORAN split functions (7-2x, RU, DU, CU, CP, UP...)Extensive understanding and experience in RAN/vRAN software architectures in a virtualized environmentExtensive understanding of RF Radio operations over eCPRI interfaces. Includes CSR, DU and timing configurationsExtensive understanding of software systems/services running virtualized ORAN functionsUnderstanding of latency considerations and issues from gNB to Data Center locationsUnderstanding and experience with virtualized networks, orchestration and automation across a large network architectureThorough understanding of vRAN/ORAN architecture described in 3GPP standards (Rel 15 & 16)RF Design, Optimization and performance improvement experience is a plusDeep understanding of LTE, VoLTE, 5G VoNR L2/L3 call flows with ability to understand and analyze traces (PCAP, GNB traces)BS or MS in Engineering or technical degree or an equivalent combination of highly related experience and educationMust be self-motivated, able to manage simultaneous events efficientlyAble to achieve goals by working professionally with other team membersSalary Range

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total
compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
