As a Security Specialist (Assessments) within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.
The security assessment team is responsible for identifying & assessing security posture through centralized management of security assessment methodology and execution of assessments in order to reduce inherent risk and increase quality of risk management. The team falls in the Enterprise Information Security organization under the Policy, Governance, and Assessment department and is split into two functional areas including Security Assessment Process Engineering and Security Assessment Execution. Collectively the team offers a suite of security assessments that intersect across the technology lifecycle by embedding within enterprise processes such as: Enterprise Architecture technology standards, Enterprise Change Office Change Methodology Framework, and The Technology Delivery Factory Permit to Operate.
As a Security Assessment team Security Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing new and changing technologies for security risks and compliance with PNC policy and standards, delivery and oversight of security requirements on change projects, and continuous improvement/maturity of the team’s security assessment processes. You will work with stakeholders across the technology and business lines to deliver secure solution architectures and to identify new or compensating controls for novel risks. Your role will ensure technology assessments are comprehensive by engaging partners within security (third party, attack surface management, cryptography, etc.) to provide a single security point of view.
Job Description
Provides technical evaluation and analysis in a specific Security area. Supports activities, process, and tools needed to improve overall security posture of the organization. Primary responsibilities do not include Architect or Engineering responsibilities.
Applies security concepts, reviews information, executes defined tasks, analyzes requirements, reviews logs, and creates documentation. Performs investigation and data loss prevention, data manipulation, and coordination of activities. Performs actions to address or mitigate risks and vulnerabilities. Reviews and defines controls.
Advises on more complex security procedures and products for clients, security administrators and network operations. Participates in enforcement of control security risks and threats; potential of one more controls subject to manager discretion. Shares knowledge with staff.
Conducts security assessments and other information security routines consistently. Investigates and recommends corrective actions for data security related to established guidelines.
Develops policies and procedures to standardize security functions and eliminate potential vulnerabilities and threats. Oversees that business needs are being met during development.

Work Experience
Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
