Description:

Position Purpose:
The Security Officer performs general security work in the protection of persons, property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of Trinity Health Of New England.
What you will do:
Checks to ensure hospital entrances, doors, and windows are securely locked. Inspects equipment, machinery, alarms, sprinkler systems and so forth to ensure all are properly working. Notifies appropriate personnel of problems as necessary.
Escorts patients, visitors, and colleagues to hospital parking areas or through buildings as requested.
Responds appropriately to and carries out proper procedures for the Emergency Operations Plan, Security Operation Plan, and Emergency Codes.
Maintain a safe environment. Performs other special assignments as requested.
Minimum Qualifications :
High school level of educational development and up to one (1) year of previous work experience in security or police functions plus three months of on-the-job training and orientation.
Certification as a security officer or graduation from a police academy preferred. Knowledge of security and law enforcement practices a plus.
Ability to produce a concise and accurate report. Working verbal and written knowledge of English language is required. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish preferred.
Must be physically able to assist with the restraint of psychiatric patients during crisis intervention.
Possession of a valid driver’s license for travel to and from other Mercy Springfield facilities as necessary. Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company vehicle.
