Develop and lead the implementation of US Foods division seafood category strategy across the defined Area. Execute recommended assortment changes and establish/maintain positive local vendor relationships for all DCs within the defined Area. Serve as subject matter expert for top tier seafood customers and prospects, as defined by local leadership, to drive penetration, case volume and manage strategic buys to deliver on key results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnering with corporate seafood team, develop implementation plan for seafood category and operational strategy customized for multiple Distribution Centers. Ensure implementation is in alignment with overall US Foods category strategy and goals, as defined by Region & Area. Effectively work with seafood CPM & FCM to execute the National, Regional and Market initiatives to grow cases and increase profitability.
Responsible for Area Seafood product assortment
Report weekly and monthly on key metrics that impact the financial performance of the Area Review list, ensure it outlines the work to be done rather than explain procedure detail.
Review seafood assortment to gauge product penetration, noting slow or dead SKUs, reduce SKU duplication and identify voids – provide strategic recommendations to drive optimization.
Gather local market data (including trends) through feedback and intelligence from culinary team, sales staff, specialists, FCMs and vendor partners, performing sound analysis and adjusting strategy based on findings
Partner with stakeholders in the development and implementation of strategic sourcing and procurement processes managed category management.
Improve area UPI by building strategies behind slow moving product, DWO and E&O SKUS
Responsible for working with and giving direction to replenishment to maintain supply for the category with existing partner vendors and outside vendors as needed
Work closely with the local sales & support teams to identify the potential opportunities within accounts
Plan and execute other activities to drive business, i.e. seafood shows, market visits, district meetings and other promotional opportunities
Work with TMs and DSMs to develop customer programs and build relationships with top 20 seafood customers
Assert subject matter expertise to further major Area-specific account bids through thorough analysis, coordinate customer on-boarding, and keep sales staff informed of ongoing category strategy
Contribute to key customer business reviews to address seafood bids & customer specific inventory

SUPERVISION :
N/ARELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Will work directly with local sales, sales support, and merch teams. Will work closely with seafood commodity procurement manager and field category manager to build and execute strategy.
External: Manage relationships with approved corporate and local seafood vendors. Also responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships with top tier seafood customers and prospects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hybrid : This role is partially remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a combined home-based and office-based environment.
Build & Maintain relationships with top tier seafood customers through a combination of in person visits and telecommunication. Will require use of personal vehicle and in-person visits to accounts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 7 years category management experience required, with some project management experience preferred, ideally this experience will derive from the food service or food manufacturing industries.
20% of overnight travel required.
Strong knowledge of a wide variety of seafood species and seasonality preferred.
EDUCATION
Four-year college degree in business or related field, or equivalent field experience required.CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING

Must possess the ability to operate successfully within a matrix organization, working effectively with multiple groups. Must be able to work in a team setting, drive organizational transformations and support change management within the organization. Must be able to provide fact-based recommendations across a variety of management levels resulting in buy-in and improvement in category performance. Must be self-directed and highly motivated, possessing a strong business acumen, sound interpersonal skills, and excellent presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; working knowledge of PowerPoint is required.
