The Biotherapeutics and Genetics Medicine department within Discovery Research is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to join in the newly formed Genetic Medicine (GM) group at AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC). The ABC site, based in Worcester, MA, offers a unique setting where GM, Biologics drug discovery, development and manufacturing coexist in one location. Our team interacts with multidisciplinary groups across AbbVie focused on developing therapies for Virology, Immunology, Neurology, Ophthalmology and Oncology diseases.
As an integral member of the GM team this individual will perform research related to mRNA therapeutics. The successful candidate is expected to have knowledge of RNA molecular biology and cell-based assay skillsets. As one of the key team members, this individual will work with scientists across different functional groups and different therapeutic areas to discover and develop next generation biologics through interrogation of RNA-related technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct molecular biology-related work, such as DNA preparation, RNA in vitro transcription, qPCR, western blot, ELISA, etc.
Perform cell-based assays, such as cell culture, transfection, immunostaining, and flow cytometry.
Investigate and develop assays for mRNA platform establishment, such as RNA purification and quality control.
Work closely with the manager and cross-functional team members on multiple tasks with the ability to analyze, interpret, and present data.
Assist in ordering reagents from internal and external suppliers and communicating with CROs.
Generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Read and adapt scientific literature to accomplish assignments. Demonstrate broad and versatile technical expertise within discipline.
