Description
We are looking for an experienced program leader to tackle complex and ambiguous problems that span numerous systems and organizations across PXT. This will be a highly visible leader that will own the communication, coordination, and execution of a long-term, multi-year product vision. They will work with senior scientists and science leaders to define the strategy and requirements to build the PXT Science Excellence Center.
This leader will design, coordinate, and execute science excellence solutions that scale globally including:
Owning science best practices and making them easily available to to Amazon scientists. Topics include writing, research design, methods application, coding hygiene and guidelines, and meeting and communication guidelines.
Developing a formal and scalable peer review process for research papers produced by Amazon scientists.
Proactively identifying continuing education opportunities for scientists as well as developing and designing courses led by current Amazon scientists and scholars.
Owning an easily searchable central repository of papers and code.
Organizing an annual PXT research conference.
Developing education materials including lectures and self guided courses to teach basic data analysis, statistics, and regression analysis to a diverse audience of business leaders.
Working cross-functionally, this leader will identify and secure commitment from science teams across the company for new initiatives, driving consensus on the approach to building a best in class center supporting our growing community of scientists working to our goal of being Earth’s Best Employer.
About the team
The PXT Central Science Team (PXTCS) uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, well being, and the value of work to Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team which combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal.

Basic Qualifications
A well-rounded- background in economics or related research, as well as a history of leading large projects end-to-end.
Masters or PhD in Economics, Statistics, or other similar, quantitative field.
10+ years of relevant experience in high-caliber research-led organizations, including academia, independent scientific research organizations, consulting, or private industry.
Experience leading programs and managing multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Tech industry experience.
Experience developing product and programs in support of science excellence.
Experience working with UX, Operations, Software Development teams to high-quality and relevant products to stakeholders
Prior experience working with scientists from multiple disciplines.
PhD in Economics, Statistics, or other similar, quantitative field.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $213,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $318,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
