We are now recruiting for Safety Case Work pack lead to join us permanently on our major projects.
Purpose:
A Safety Case Author Work Pack Lead is part of this major programmes safety case capability and provides radiological safety assessment, coordination, and leadership across safety case related disciplines to achieve overall safety case objectives.
You are accountable to the Safety Case Manager.
Responsibilities:
Your role is responsible for
Undertaking radiological safety assessment, and associated activities, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions.
Coordinating a range of safety case work within the scope of the work pack, integrating with other work pack leads, and subject matters leads.
Influencing designers and the safety case development relevant to the work pack scope, seeking pragmatic and proportionate alignment with standards and methodologies.
Supporting the Safety Case Manager.
Supporting wider Programme safety case and engineering leads when requested, e.g. technical reviews for other projects.
Assisting Head of Profession in capability development and establishment and implementation of resource strategies, recruitment plans and competence assessment.
Advises Amentum and Programme leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients (Intelligent Customer), on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance.
Supporting the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees. Acts in any safety assessment or equivalent role.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required:
Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education).
Experience of UK and relevant international standards and practices, e.g. ONR Technical Assessment Guides.
Experience of HAZID and HAZAN production, optioneering and ALARP studies. Experience of applying relevant standards, guides and codes in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools. Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
Good MS applications, organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
Desirable:
Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
Project management and project controls skills; Stakeholder management skills; Ability to mentor and coach.
Position will require ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
