Your New Role…
The Accountant is a key position in the accounting team supporting expense accounting for Direct-to-Consumer activity for various businesses within EMEA territories for Warner Bros. Discovery. This person will be responsible for performing accounting activities related to expenses, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
Your Role Accountabilities…
Perform general day-to-day accounting duties in EMEA DTC businesses.
Ensure that financial records related to expenses are complete, accurate and in compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
Ensure timely booking of expenses including the related accruals and prepaids.
Prepare account reconciliations in a timely manner and ensure accuracy and completeness for expense related accounts.
Participate in the month-end close process for expense-related accounts including the preparation and review of journal entries and other financial reports.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, HR to ensure the timely and accurate recognition of expenses.
Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal control environment
Work with other members of the Controllership team to review, and resolve any intercompany discrepancies within the group.
Engage with key DTC EMEA controllership stakeholders, including FP&A, Tax, GBS, and country-specific business unit teams.
Work closely with financial accounting team on statutory filing process, including.
Preparation of detail support and account reconciliations by country for key accounts required in statutory financial statements and related audits.
Provide detail backup and audit support to Statutory Financial teams, external auditors, local authorities, and WBD management to ensure successful filings.
Participate and provide input to key system and process integrations in the EMEA controllership area.
Qualifications & Experience…
At least 3+ years of work experience in an accounting role and a strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX
CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) strongly preferred
Experience performing financial accounting monitoring of key business performance metrics
Strong understanding of financial systems with the ability to learn and master new system tools
Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift
Strong accounting acumen working in a multinational company
Operational accounting experience
