Roadway Engineer
Description
Ardmore Roderick is seeking a highly-motivated Roadway Engineer to support our ever growing department within Illinois in our Chicago office. The ideal candidate will be able to apply their civil background to assist the Tollway and it’s GEC (General Engineering Consultant) staff on inspecting and reporting on their extensive inventory and assets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in performing pavement and other inspections to ensure compliance with Illinois Tollway standards and manuals.
Learn and apply current inspection practices and techniques under supervision.
Record identified work activities in a cloud database.
Assist in developing basic repair plans under guidance.
Support the monitoring of the condition of Illinois Tollway assets, including Pavement, Bridges, Walls, Sign Structures, Facilities, ITS Devices, Toll Equipment, Bioswales, and Detention Basins.
Help in preparing annual condition summary reports under supervision.
Experience Qualifications:
Basic understanding of pavement engineering principles.
0-4 years experience
Bachelor’s degree or in the process of obtaining one in Civil Engineering from an accredited U.S. institution.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Willingness to learn design and construction practices.
Interest in developing innovative solutions for inspection data collection.
Familiarity with tablet technology for project documentation.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest or coursework related to transportation design or similar projects.
