  Overview

  Bakersfield Memorial Hospital includes 385 general acute beds 48 licensed critical care beds 13 state-of-the-art surgical suites and a full-service Emergency Department with an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Nationally Certified Stroke Center. In addition we offer a beautiful Family Care and Birthing Center the Lauren Small Childrens Center including the areas only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Family Care Center a Level II NICU the Sarvanand Heart and Brain Center with Kern Countys first Bi-Plane Interventional Suite the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics and many more services.   Responsibilities

  As our ICU Nurse at Bakersfield Memorial you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury surgery or life-threatening disease.

  You’ll begin each shift by taking report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line providing wound care ensuring patients MRI or CT or administering medications.

  To thrive in this role you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot. However your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are impressive putting you on the radar for advancement.

  Position Summary:

  Is expected to perform duties in alignment with the mission and policies of the organization. Performs duties in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan Joint Commission and other licensing accrediting and regulatory agencies. Is responsible to support the Nurse Manager of the unit to manage and coordinate clinical operations in order to provide quality direct patient care to the pediatric adult and geriatric population. Ensures all aspects of documentation care planning and patient care delivery to meet regulatory requirements. Responsible for fostering a positive interactive team milieu. Facilitates optimal environment to support orientation competency validation.

  Responsibilities:

  Assesses plans and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort

  Anticipates identifies and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families

  Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients

  Maintains knowledge of equipment setup maintenance and use (i.e. IV pumps monitoring equipment and drainage devices) Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary

  Initiates emergency support measures (i.e. cardiopulmonary resuscitation protecting patient from injury)

  Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e. emptying drainage devices ambulating and hygiene)

  We are offering a $10000 sign on bonus in addition to relocation to new hires who

  Qualifications

  Minimum Requirements:

  CA RN BLS and ACLS required. New Grads - ACLS within 1 year of hire.

  1-2 years of previous acute care experience required or hired through the RN Versant program.

  Education level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications

  Basic Computer Skills.

  Preferred Skills:

  ICU experience preferred.

  BSN preferred

  Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

  Pay Range

  $40.88 - $70.95 /hour
