Under general supervision, plans, organizes, develops and supports the Clinic’s physician/employee (staff) health infection control program as part of the Employee Health and Safety team. Provides direct and indirect staff health care activities, necessary to support physicians and colleagues within established guidelines. Responsible for ensuring compliance of individual employees, advanced clinical practitioners, physicians and their managers with local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to record-keeping and communications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manages employee infection control program including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)/Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) compliance
Provides oversight and monitors information systems for the TEC employee immunization program
Assesses, administers and provides oversight for required immunizations to meet the established criteria for all new hire employees and providers
Provides employee exposure, SAFE Event incident response, follow-up, and collaborates with Patient Safety in their investigations as needed
Provides new-hire orientation (NEO) and ongoing annual training for respirator program, blood-borne pathogens, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, and TB exposure control; and coordinates safety needle annual evaluation/trial and sharps incident monitoring
Develops and reviews clinic-wide employee infection control policies, protocols and guidelines and collaborates in staff training and education
Provides education, assessment and coordination with Employee Safety Manager and committee members for proactive ergonomic solutions prior to possible employee injury whenever possible
Identifies and recommends solutions to departmental problems
Assists in assessing departmental function and productivity and recommends changes as necessary
Reports annual quality performance and TB risk assessment annually
Provides appropriate communications and resources to Employee Health and Safety, Clinical Education, Human Resources, senior and mid-level management and other key department contacts
Participates in Employee Safety Committee, Employee Health & Safety Steering Committee, Environment of Care Committee, and is included in Quality and other appropriate committees as needed. Participates in annual environmental rounds to support the Safety Manager
Communicates problems and concerns to department manager as necessary
Maintains TEC employee and patient confidentiality
Administers the employee immunization program, develops policy and coordinates education
Coordinates employee blood-borne pathogen exposure prevention, personal protective equipment, hazard communications, and TB exposure control policy development and education
Incorporates the philosophy and objectives of The Everett Clinic into employee health and patient care by maintaining an awareness of mission, policies, and procedures
Maintains professional affiliations and continuing education
Provides feedback to colleagues and participates in peer review as necessary
Participates in departmental quality improvement programs
Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions/actions in relation to expected patient outcomes/goals

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program , with a minimum of an associate degree in nursing
Current Washington State RN licensure and BLS certification
5+ years of current clinical experience , including knowledge of professional theory, and practice to give and evaluate patient care
2+ years of experience in Employee Health, Occupational and/or Institutional Infection Control, OR specialized training program OR able to complete specialized training program within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Occupational Health Nurse
Infection Preventionist Certification
Washington Residents Only: The salary range for Washington residents is $58,300 to $114,300 annually.
