POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by demonstrating leadership through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in the operating room according to the standards of professional nursing practice. Nursing care is provided to the individual patient, based upon cultural, spiritual and age specific needs.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare team and promotes effective team functioning.
Demonstrates safe and effective clinical practice.
Documents all nursing care, change in condition, response to therapy, treatments, and procedures on patient record to meet standards.
Provides patient, family, and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care.
Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual differences.
Demonstrates dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
Performs a variety of duties in an operating room outside of the sterile field observing proper techniques to include preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; opening sterile supplies, performing sterile skin antisepsis prep, and proper positioning.
Properly handles and cares for all instruments and equipment. Checks materials and equipment for proper functioning and adequacy; reports faulty equipment and instruments per policy.
Assists with precepting and mentoring new personnel.
Attends in-services and mandatory meetings.
Anticipates needs of surgeon, surgical assistants, and scrubbed personnel in the operating room.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma from an accredited professional nursing program
• Licensure: Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement
• Certification: Must hold American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain

• Certification: American Heart Association ACLS Healthcare Provider
• Work Experience: Previous cardiovascular operating room experience or completion of a Peri-op 101 internship
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently
• Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance
• May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
