Position Summary
The Revenue Manager will be responsible for managing multiple financial related tasks on behalf of an Americas Regional Section. Key priorities will include overseeing the section's billing and revenue generation processes.
A primary focus of the Revenue Manager is to ensure timely and effective cash flow practices are adopted with respect to the Firm's clients, which includes the timely issuance of client invoices and the collection of outstanding accounts receivables. This candidate will work closely with key stakeholders within the Firm, including Partners, Billing Coordinators, Collection Specialists and Senior Management to monitor Firm inventory and achieve monthly billing and collection targets.
The candidate will support the Regional Section Head and individual Partners within the section, with any financial data and analysis as needed. The Revenue Manager will also work on the yearly financial budget, as well as report on monthly budget to actual variances across a number of key performance indicators.
The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, along with strong critical thinking, problem solving and time management skills, with proven success at handling multiple responsibilities in a fast paced environment.
He or she must be comfortable communicating professionally via email, mail, or phone with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of seniority both domestically and internationally. The position is an integral role in helping the Firm convert inventory balances into revenues. Given the importance of the role, the Revenue Manager will be imbedded on the practice floor to work closely with the Partners within the regional section.
Duties and Accountabilities
Responsible for the effectiveness of the Firm's billing and inventory management activities for the Regional Section.
Oversee WIP, AR and billings for the Regional Section and communicating as necessary with senior management to ensure that balances are managed in accordance with matter arrangements and firm policy.
Monitor and enforce the timely and accurate inputs of timekeeper diaries to ensure prompt billing.
Manage and execute on targets set for monthly and/or quarterly billing/collections drives.
Monitor inventory levels and related exposure on fixed/capped fee matters.
Work in conjunction with the Financial Compliance group to monitor the opening of new matters to ensure proper billing rates and fee structures are utilized as governed by matter and client fee arrangements.
Review rate exceptions and discounts for all clients and matters within the Regional Section; work with pricing team and Billing Partners to update as needed.
Generate reports for clients, partners, inventory teams, Firm management and other internal parties to track WIP, AR, billings, and other statistics including, client and matter profitability.
Support the yearly budget process for the practice group, in direct liaison with the Regional Section Head. Key tasks include timekeeper rate setting, headcount analysis and understanding the pipeline of new business.
Identify matter management and billing process improvement opportunities and make respective recommendations.
Addressing inquiries and resolving disputes from internal and external parties regarding billing activities.
Supporting internal and external audits.
Other ad hoc requests and projects, as requested by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred 5+ years of relevant and in depth experience in revenue management Law Firm experience is essential, ideally in a top 20 firm with experience liaising with overseas offices/international clients Thorough understanding of billing, collections and receivable processes and procedures Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, including the ability to work with all levels within an organization Able to critically think through issues, and articulate thoughts and concepts adeptly Ability to see an issue through from start to finish, while organizing work flow and using time efficiently Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative Exceptional attention to detail, determination, self-motivation and resolve Intermediary knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint Knowledge of 3E or Elite Enterprise preferred
