Summary:
Wireless technologies are a crucial part of Facebook Reality Lab Device Technology Engineering team. As the wireless system architecture team, we study the performance of future AR/VR products in complicated radio and network conditions and gain insights for system design. We utilize the latest developments in the wireless industry to develop AR/VR products with wireless capabilities and work towards areas to optimize facebook’s AR/VR use experiences for both short term and long term. We are looking for interns who have a deep understanding of wireless technology, are familiar with wireless system design, and have proven analysis and innovation capabilities.
Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long, and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Research Scientist Intern, Wireless Systems Engineer (PhD) Responsibilities:
In this role you will be at the center of the wireless system architecture group responsible for use case analysis, cellular or Connectivity system design and performance optimization for AR/VR product,
The project will have a focus in wireless system modeling, design, simulations, feasibility analysis for long term evolution of cellular or connectivity technology in VR/AR domain.

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in Wireless Communications or related field Deep knowledge of communication system theory and wireless fundamentals
Proficient and experience in simulation in C/C++, Matlab, NS3 or Python
Familiarity of 5G (NR) and 4G (LTE) technologies or Connectivity technologies (WiFi/BT/UWB/others)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Knowledge and experience in microwave theory, antenna fundamentals and RF wireless communication and network fundamentals

Cloud/AR/QoS w.r.t. wireless research background
Understanding of consumer hardware development including RF, antenna, power/thermal constraint
