About the role:
The Oncology research department at Novartis Biomedical Research is recruiting a research scientist with a strong background in cellular and molecular biology to join their Innovative Targets and Technologies group in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will carry out cutting-edge oncology research at the interface of target discovery, early target biology, and drug discovery. We seek a motivated and ambitious scientist wishing to continue a successful scientific career in a fast-paced drug discovery environment.
Your key responsibilities:
• Design, perform, and interpret in vitro experiments under the leadership of the Lab Head.
• Propose experimental alternatives, explore and introduce novel technologies and approaches.
• Analyze and optimally report data, as well as communicating the data in different team meetings.
• Closely work with various teams across expertise groups within Oncology.
• Generate high-quality data to support the identification, validation, and early hit-finding for new targets, with the goal of accelerating drug discovery.

Role Requirements
Essential Requirements:
• This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international).
• MS or BS in cellular biology, molecular biology, or another relevant discipline, with at least 2-5 years of biomedical research experience.
• Proficiency and hands-on experience in applying a wide range of cellular and molecular biological methods (in particular: mammalian cell culture, cell line engineering, qPCR, immunoblotting, FACS).
• Familiarity working in a highly productive and fast-paced environment.
• Highly collaborative and self-motivated teammate, with demonstrated critical scientific thinking.
Desirable requirements:
• Experience with next-generation sequencing sample preparation, data analysis, and interpretation

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $66,000 - $126,000 /year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
