About the role:
Novartis Biomedical Research Oncology strives to reimagine medicines for cancer patients. We are seeking a highly motivated and curious in vitro research scientist to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary discovery team. This position will therefore be ideal for those wishing to combine their curiosity about immunobiology of cancer with their strong desire to develop transformative therapies.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Generate high-quality data that support target validation and development of cancer immunotherapies.
• Establish, optimize, and perform cell-based assay including human primary immune cell assays tailored to the strategy and target of interest.
• Screen candidate molecules.
• Document, analyze, interpret data, and present results within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $84,000 - $126,000/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Role Requirements
Essential Requirements:
• This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require travel.
• Bachelor or Master of Science Degree with at least 2 to 3 years of prior professional experience in industry or academia in immuno-oncology
• Strong immunology or cancer biology experience
• Proven hands-on experience with cell culture, immune cell assays, multicolor flow cytometric analysis and cytokine assays (ELISA, MSD, ELISpot)
• Experience in working within a fast-paced team environment with a high degree of self-motivation, flexibility, and organization
• Meticulous laboratory approach, careful adherence to protocols and excellent lab notebook documentation
• Excellent verbal and writing skills for documentation of data, drafting of technical reports, and communication of progress within team and to manager
• Strong analytical and digital literacy
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
• Basic skills in molecular and cell-biology techniques (transfections, western blots, RNA isolation, qRT-PCR etc.)
