　　Team Introduction

　　This position is responsible for researching and building the company's LLMs. The role involves exploring new applications and solutions for related technologies in areas such as search, recommendation, advertising, content creation, and customer service. The goal is to meet the increasing demand for intelligent interactions from users and to significantly enhance their lifestyle and communication in the future.

　　Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth.

　　This Internship Program runs for 12-24 weeks beginning in May/June 2024. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following summer internship cycles below:

　　1.May 20, 2024 to August 9, 2024

　　2.May 28, 2024 to August 16, 2024

　　3.June 10, 2024 to August 30, 2024

　　We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit to these start dates. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date).

　　Candidates can apply to a maximum of two positions and will be considered for jobs in the order you apply. The application limit is applicable to TikTok and its affiliates' jobs globally. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis - we encourage you to apply early.

　　Responsibilities:

　　1. Safety in LLMs: Investigate strategies to ensure language models are safe and ethical, preventing the generation of harmful content and maintaining alignment with societal norms.

　　2. Alignment Algorithms: Explore advanced alignment algorithms like Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) to enhance the model's ability to align with complex human values and decision-making processes.

　　3. Scalable Oversight: Develop scalable oversight mechanisms that enable efficient monitoring and control of LLMs as they grow in size and complexity, ensuring consistent alignment with predefined objectives.

　　4. Interpretability in LLMs: Focus on enhancing the interpretability of language models, ensuring that their decision-making processes and outputs are transparent and understandable to users and stakeholders.

　　Qualifications

　　1. Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, or related technical field.

　　2. Excellent knowledge of theory and practice of LLM, Reinforcement Learning.

　　3. Strong publication record at leading conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP etc.).

　　4. Excellent coding ability, familiar with data structures, and fundamental algorithm skills, proficient in Python, winners of competitions such as ACM/ICPC, USACO/NOI/IOI, Top Coder, Kaggle, etc. are preferred;

　　5. Good communication and collaboration skills, able to explore new technologies with the team and promote technological progress.

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　• Graduating December 2024 onwards with intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship.

　　• Demonstrated software engineering or natural language processing, deep learning experience from previous internships, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.

　　• High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.
