　　Position Overview

　　We are looking for a Research Engineer, Mechatronics & Software Research to develop and implement research prototypes for the Autodesk Research organization.

　　You will report to a Senior Manager of Research Science.

　　You will work in Research Technology Centre based in San Francisco, CA.

　　Responsibilities

　　Develop and Implement Software Prototypes: Developing, testing, and deploying software prototypes. This involves writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code in several programming languages like Python, C++Develop and Implement Hardware Prototypes: Engage in the conceptualization, design, fabrication and prototyping of mechatronic systems, integrating mechanical, electronic, and software components to create advanced technological solutionsPrototyping: Build and test integration of software and hardware prototypes. Conduct testing to evaluate the performance of these systemsSystem Integration and Optimization: Integrate multiple subsystems (sensors, actuators, controllers) into a cohesive functioning unit. Improve these systems for performanceTeamwork: Collaborate with teams including research engineers, research scientists, software developers, and project managers to ensure project goals are met and systems are developed following the objectivesCustomer and Partner Engagement: Interact with customers, partners, and team members to define requirements, present solutions, and gather feedback

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (master's or Ph.D.) in these areas are beneficial3-5 years working experience in Python and C++ software development, including system design, data structures & algorithms. Understanding of mechatronic software frameworks and software libraries3-5 years of Mechatronic hardware engineering skills. Comprehensive knowledge of hardware mechatronic systems, including experience in designing, fabricating, and integrating mechanical and electronic components. Hands-on knowledge of CAD/CAM, fabrication using machine shop tools, Raspberry Pi development is advantageousPrototyping background. Experienced in developing and testing both software applications and mechanical systems, ensuring they work together

　　Salary transparency

　　Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $107,100 and $184,800. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
