  Job Description Summary

  As a Control Systems Research Engineer, you will work independently as well as in a team to develop advanced modeling, controls, optimization, estimation, and detection technologies. The technologies you develop will be used in the design, testing, and operation of advanced prototypes and products. This development will involve contributing to projects across GE Aerospace with fellow researchers from a range of technology disciplines.

  Job Description

  Essential Responsibilities: As a Control Systems Research Engineer, you will:

  Work independently as well as with a diverse team to develop and apply advanced technology solutions to GE Aerospace products and services using advanced modeling, controls, optimization, estimation, and detection technologies. Validate performance of developed solutions through simulations and application on target systems. Document technology and results through patent applications, technical reports, and publications. Stay current with advances in system technologies to seek out new ideas and applications. Work in a team environment with colleagues across GE Research, GE Aerospace, and government agencies.

  Qualifications/Requirements:

  Doctorate degree in an Engineering field with experience in design of advanced modeling, controls, optimization, estimation, and detection technologies. Or a master's degree in an Engineering field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in design of advanced modeling, controls, optimization, estimation, and detection technologies. Demonstrated experience in developing systems solutions (algorithm development and software implementation) for complex physical systems (e.g., mechanical systems, power systems, transportation, aviation systems). Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and C, C++, or Python. Willingness to travel at a minimum of 2 weeks per year.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.   Ideal Candidate Characteristics:

  Experience developing advanced controls solutions for industrial applicationsExperience with real-time implementation of system solutions in a variety of hardware platforms Demonstrated ability to take an innovative idea from a concept to a productAbility to obtain and maintain US Government Security ClearanceExpertise with dynamic system simulation packages, such as NPSSExperience developing cyber-security algorithmsStrong analytical skills Strong interpersonal skills Experience with program management, which includes setting up schedules, milestones, technical reviews, tracking financials, etc.

  The base pay range for this position is $80,000 - $150,000 USD, annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.

  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
