About the Opportunity
The University of Florida, College of Journalism and Communications, Center for Public Interest Communications is seeking a new Research Coordinator to work in collaboration with the Center’s other personnel to design, execute and deliver project deliverables involving research for the Center’s service agreements with internal and external partners. The Research Coordinator will plan and conduct research programs that inform strategic communication strategies to help accomplish partner goals, will interpret insights from published and original research, will serve as primary project manager for Center research projects and provide management of the research assistants employed by the Center.
Key Position Functions
Serve, in partnership with the Center’s Director of Research, as a manager who plans and conducts research efforts toward completing Center service agreements with internal and external partners.
Assist the director of research and Center leadership, under minimal supervision, performing a variety of non-routine scientific tasks.
Coordinate with the Center’s partner-facing directors in conducting research-related work necessary for project deliverables, including but not limited to, research documentation and research document components in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Responsible for completing or managing completion of primary and secondary research-related service agreement deliverables.
Exercise judgement in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results to resolve complex problems.
Coordinate work of Center team and consulting scholars to interpret research insights from published or original research and keeping the team updated on project status.
Planning, organizing and directing assigned projects, managing on-boarding of new team members, ensuring research tasks are assigned and completed in timely manner, and coordinating project needs and available personnel.
Contribute to the generation of peer-reviewed journal articles and public scholarship that serves to share insights generated by the Center’s primary research.
Curate and translate published research for use in Center service agreement work.
Identify research insights that strengthen or develop new public interest communications frameworks to be shared with the field.

Expected Salary:
Commensurate with experience
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in strategic communications at an agency, consultancy or in a communications division of an organization working in the realm of a public interest issue. Experience in project management and managing student workers. Educational credential—coursework, degree or training certificate—in the field of study that informs public interest communications is preferred.
