Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.
Job Description
We are seeking a Research Biostatistician to join our growing team of statistical analysts within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. In this role, you will support the PhD and senior biostatisticians in collaborations with behavioral research, biomedical investigators and other research activities.
The team provides an unusually rich opportunity for collegial interaction and an exceptional infrastructure for behavioral and methodological research. Specialized research areas include health-related quality of life, adaptation to cancer survivorship, psychological interventions for cancer patients and their families, neurocognitive sequelae of cancer treatment, palliative care, treatment decision-making and adherence, cancer screening, provider-patient communication, health disparities, tobacco cessation, and other health behavior change interventions.
You will:
Collaborate with colleagues on a variety of population-based, behavioral science, psychiatric, methodological, and community-based research projects related to cancer prevention and control research.Participate in planning for grants and proposals, and to effectively communicate scientific ideas, methods, and results.Build and maintain data files, analyze and summarize data, and communicate results from clinical or statistical research projects.Contributed to the dissemination of study findings in writing papers, scientific reports, conference abstracts, and other academic activities.
You need:
A completed Master’s degree at the time of application in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or Quantitative Psychology, Psychometrics, indicative of a strong quantitative foundation.A minimal of 2 years of full-time experience in data analysis for research post Master’s degree, preferably in a statistical consulting role and with health disparitiesBroad knowledge in one or more applied statistical methods commonly used in behavioral sciences, including multiple regression, ANOVA, hierarchical linear modeling, non-parametric techniques, missing data imputation, and statistical power analysis.Proficiency in popular statistical computer packages such as R, SAS, SPSS, and/or Stata.Proficiency in relational database language such as SQL is desirable.Familiarity with psychometric techniques is desirable, such as structural equation modeling, item analysis and scale development (factor analysis, item response theory).A record of publications and successful collaborations on extramural research grant proposals is a plus.
