POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working under limited supervision, coordinate research activities for the Behavioral Health Research Group in the department of Psychiatry. This includes involvement as a team member in several mental health and neurologic research projects both at Case Western Reserve University and in the community. Involvement in the studies may include, but is not limited to, participant recruitment, rating participants on psychiatric rating scales, entering visit data into electronic case report forms, administering psycho-educational interventions to participants in the research study, and other study-related duties. Perform all clinical and research functions under the Good Clinical Practice guidelines. Comply with all National Institute for Mental Health, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, internal review board, and other regulatory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Carry out complex research assignments of a non-routine nature by administering parts of research interventions to 'Seriously Mentally Ill' participants. Develop and implement effective recruitment policies and procedures through advertising and in-person contact with mental health providers and organizations at study sites and within the community. Oversee psychiatrists, lab technicians, and other study-related personnel to coordinate group efforts in accomplishing study goals and ensuring proper protocol is followed. Collaborate with individual hospital staff at each site to ensure appropriate procedures are followed for clinical study procedures. Administer psychological and psychiatric assessments according to protocol guidelines. Assessments include both diagnostic and symptom severity measures. (40%)Work closely with the principal investigator and research manager to establish and implement ongoing study goals. Present each study's current progress and needs at weekly organizational meetings. Utilize team research staff to increase each study's time efficiency and aid in completing project deadlines. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals, and other affiliated internal review boards (IRBs) by overseeing IRB submissions to ensure they meet IRB mandates and the continuous approval of protocols. Utilize and devise new and innovative research techniques involving a high degree of skill and training. Evaluate the adequacy of techniques, studies, and tests of new procedures. Coordinate data safety and monitory board meetings for group research studies. Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines. (15%)Mentor lower-level research assistants and student volunteers to aid in the growth of their research skills and overall research knowledge.
