General Summary:
We are looking for a Reporter/Producer to play a critical role in creating the best morning television in New Zealand.
Reporting to the Executive Producer of AM, you'll be tasked to play a vital role in the production of AM. This role will work in an energetic, dynamic team that has a passion for delivering a high quality morning news programme featuring a variety of interviews on news and current events.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the hosts to find engaging topics to discuss throughout the show.Liaise with the chase produce to create graphics and intro SOTs.Create SOT pieces.Sub graphics to be shown on-air.Write the teases for the ticker.Find news and lifestyle/entertainment interview opportunities.Pre-interview guests for research notes and create research notes for the hosts.Cut promos for the show.Be responsible for providing social and digital content AM, when required.Generate original story ideas.Maintain an extensive contact base.Report live on AM in the absence of the AM Reporter, when required.Deliver a confident and authoritative performance on-air.Be adept at using newsroom systems and tools.Be a clear communicator.Adhere to BSA broadcasting code.Contribute to the programme's digital platforms.Uphold the company values and expected behaviours in all undertakings related to your employment.The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time.Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.The Company may, after fair and reasonable consultation, change your duties, from time to time, for commercial reasons but not so as to substantially change the nature of the position.
Qualities Required:
A hard-working team player who understands the importance of a team and contributing constantly at a high level.A believer of individual drive with team success and shared acknowledgement.Strong organisational skills.A 'can do' positive attitude is essential.Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned.Extensive understanding of news and current affairs issues.Strong broadcast voice.Passionate about news, current affairs and story-telling.A generator of original ideas with a strong editorial nouse.At least one year of experience writing, producing and editing TV broadcast stories using news editing software.Flexibility to work varied shifts and hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.Close attention to detail.Strongly committed to creating an environment where all employees are included, are treated with dignity and respect and are in a position to contribute to our future success.
