The Reliability Engineer provides technical expertise and leadership necessary to improve the performance of facility equipment through the application of appropriate reliability tools such as root cause failure analysis, preventive and predictive maintenance techniques, identification of and resolution of bad actors through analysis of performance data and relevant trends, implementation of procedures, processes and training that promote continuous improvement and through active participation in project development. Works closely with multiple stakeholders including operations, EHS and commercial.
Responsibilities:
Champions reliability efforts through training, coaching and mentoring
Stewards the preventive and predictive maintenance processes
Analyzes available data to identify top items affecting equipment performance
Leads reliability improvement initiatives
Participates in project teams to ensure appropriate reliability objectives are incorporated into design and construction
Compiles and publishes KPI’s that promote continuous improvement
Develops procedures, processes, guidelines, and necessary work tools to improve reliability performance
Participates in process and equipment troubleshooting
Leads the support and development of equipment repair procedures
Leads and/or participate in root cause failure analysis and the completion of identified action items
Supports Turnaround process
Supports Equipment Analyst program
Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures and provides advice ensuring that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met in processes
Anticipates business or regulatory challenges and recommends process, product, or service improvements
Plans, organizes, and coordinates projects as well as trains and advises lower-level Engineers
Leads incident investigations, various kinds of meetings, training and commercial support
Assists in maintaining project records and ensures compliance with government regulations and contracts
Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of science degree in engineering – mechanical preferred
3+ years of experience with operations and/or maintenance of process equipment typical in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry
Knowledge of fundamental reliability tools and process including root cause failure analysis, pareto analysis, predictive maintenance techniques, planning and scheduling, equipment criticality assessments
Proficient with Microsoft suite of tools and experience with Maximo
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Possess a valid driver’s license

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc. Noise level is typically low. Frequently in a stationary, sitting position for prolonged periods of time. Regularly moves about inside the office to complete tasks, attend meetings or to access the copy machine or file cabinets. Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the office. Occasionally may lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
This job is frequently required to be done inside gas plant/field assets conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Regularly stoops, squats, kneels and crouches for durations up to 3 minutes. Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the gas plant. Occasionally exerts pulling force of 130 pounds. Frequently may lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may climb A-frame ladders.
Occasional travel will be required to field or corporate locations by airplane or automobile to address reliability issues.
Midstream
Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 22,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
