This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our listed office locations will have the expectation of working in the office 3 days a week, Tuesday through Thursday. Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Responsibilities:
Manages and oversees the daily operations of the underwriting operations departmentCommunicates with underwriters for high priority tasks and projects and follows up with brokers/cedents as neededDevelop and monitor monthly presentations and reports for senior leadershipDevelop process documentation for systems and day to day functionsPromote cross training for underwriting operations team to eliminate key man riskPerform treaty reviews to ensure revenue is recorded in the right period and with appropriate support.Provides recommendations, improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actionsAssigns projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracyPerform and coordinate SOX test of control design and test of control effectiveness for identified key controlsProactively work with External and Internal Audit to resolve any audit queries
Requirements:
Proven working experience as Operations Manager or Underwriting Supervisor - Managing Remote Teams is a plusReinsurance Experience RequiredAdvanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databasesAbility to process, organize and analyze large amounts of dataHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to direct and superviseHighly developed knowledge of insurance / reinsurance contracts, claims, coverage, financial transactions, reporting, collections and other insurance / reinsurance related matters.Data Analytics/ Quality communications and presentations, often to senior management, with a strong analytical focus that consistently covers all pertinent issues on complex reinsurance matters.Excellent working relationships with both internal and external partners including Brokers, Reinsurers, Cedents, Legal, Actuarial, Direct Claims, Underwriting, Accounting, vendors and/or IT, to achieve the most favorable outcomes.Collaborate and work effectively with others, including senior management.Project leadership experience with a strong record of success is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership acumen is strongly preferred.High level of discipline and ability to work independently to drive bottom line results.Experience interacting with multiple culturesBilingual - Spanish/English a plus
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$99,600 - $149,400
