Our Blood Donor Services team knows how to make the donors' experience as comfortable as possible and respects their time and compassion. We take that extra step to make sure blood donors get the highest-quality experience possible.
Summary of Duties:
The Per Diem Blood Donor RN functions under supervision by charge nurse or senior licensed technical/clinical personnel
Collecting whole blood from voluntary blood donors and performing blood component collection in house and on mobile blood drive sites
Serves as a problem-solving resource
Performs routine and specialized operational and support functions, such as assessment of health histories of blood and apheresis donors, stocking up supplies and assisting with setting up and breaking down of mobile blood drive sites with equipment and supplies
Performs blood component collection by apheresis for red cells, platelets and plasma
Participates in special projects and assignments as specified
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
High School diploma, valid RN license
Licenses:
Valid RN license
BLS upon hire
Experience:
One year in acute care setting
Prior experience in blood donor setting preferred
Physical Demands:
•Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
•Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices, including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, mechanical failure alarms.
•Visual acuity acceptable for performing duties of this position.
•Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and other customers.
