Plans, Organizes, directs and evaluates care for patients following the directives of the professional and regulatory bodies. Delegates tasks to other levels of care providers within the Department. Possess and demonstrate skills in physical assessment, patient care and discharge planning, delivery of patient care, decision making, patient-family teaching, planning and organizing care using sound time management skills. Possess and demonstrate knowledge of age specific criteria, assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and directing holistic patient care. Assumes responsibility for development, evaluation and teaching nursing procedures to other nursing staff. Assumes responsibility for personal professional growth and continuing education requirements. Assumes responsibility for utilizing the nursing process in evaluating total patient care needs and utilizing appropriate resources to meet those needs. Assumes responsibility for reporting and documenting pertinent information relating to the patient s discharge plan. Administers medications and treatments following hospital policies and procedures. Supports hospital policies, rules and regulations, and patient safety initiatives. Charge Nurse: In the absence of a Nursing Supervisor, assumes responsibility for the operation of the patient care areas on an assigned basis. After business hours, this may include the entire hospital.
