Your role at Clorox:
The Research & Development (R&D) team is looking to build a pipeline of individuals who are interested and qualified in working for Clorox. As a Sr. Scientist, you will be a consumer-obsessed developer with an innovative mindset. You will have the ability to research, develop and recommend differentiated, novel solutions for current and new product formulas. No matter the business, you will be part of a high performing team, driving your projects and developing new/improved products through the commercialization process for both growth and cost savings initiatives. In this role, you will bring new ideas and innovation to our products and packaging, delivering against the broader Clorox sustainability commitments and vision.
In this role, you will:
Be the product, processing and/or packaging development lead, providing an R&D voice within the business, focused on consumer-obsessed innovation solutions
Balance consumer centric innovation while advancing sustainability with technically achievable, affordable, consumer valued solutions to fulfill the company vision
Provide or develop technical expertise in the assigned business, while establishing and growing relationships with external manufacturing and technology partners
Lead technical projects, partnering with subject matter experts, cross-functional partners and project managers, contributing to work with an enterprise perspective and technical thought leadership
Develop and lead product testing and validation, internally and externally, upholding a strong technical foundation and right rigor/right time mentality
Identify consumer needs gaps provide solutions, influencing business partners
Demonstrate a mentality of constant improvement and willingness to challenge past ways of working to drive efficiency in your work and presenting means of improving the work of the broader technical team
Establish and maintain strong technical organization through knowledge management and documentation
What we look for:
Bachelors, Masters or PhD in relevant science or engineering discipline (i.e. Chemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
Minimum 5+ years as a product, process or packaging developer in consumer product goods companies or applicable field
Strong internal motivation, robust planning of technical and cross functional teams, critical thinking, problem solving under unique constraints, able to work independently, able to work with and through others
Ability to identify, champion and adapt new technologies, tools and processes, and have experience with development & commercialization of consumer-centric products and/or services
Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, & interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative team environment, both with internal multi-functional groups & external partners

Hybrid: This position will be based in our Pleasanton, CA office. The individual will be expected to work in the office 3 days a week. (Relo assistance provided)

We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
–Zone A: $104,100 - $199,100
–Zone B: $95,500 - $183,300
–Zone C: $86,800 - $166,600

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
