R&D Engineer - Software Developer for CAE Visualization
Summary / Role Purpose
Ansys is looking for an R&D Engineer to contribute to the development of web frontends and backend components in the area of Mechanical simulation software. In this role, the R&D Engineer will participate in the planning, implementation, testing and maintenance of next-generation web applications for the visualization and manipulation of Mechanical models, with a focus on browser-based 3D rendering.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systemsUnderstands and employs best practicesPerforms moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutionsUnderstands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issuesWorks under the general supervision of a development manager
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
MS in Engineering, Computer Science or Natural ScienceAcademic, research or industry experience in scientific software developmentGood knowledge and experience with either JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or C++Passion for understanding complex problems and crafting innovative technical solutionsAn inquisitive and rigorous mindset
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Experience in computer graphics/scientific visualization related software development, especially browser-based 3D visualization using toolkits such as WebGL, WebGPU, VTK or Three.jsFamiliar with REST, gRPC or WebSocket APIsExperience developing web applications with frameworks such as Angular or ReactExperience in any of the following: Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), CAD ModellingExperience in a large-scale commercial software development environmentGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
