SUMMARY
The R&D Engineer II will be in an integrated and dynamic Mechanics Business Unit (MBU) product creation team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining state of art capabilities in structural Finite Elements and advanced simulation procedures in MAPDL products. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. To be considered for this position, successful candidates must have an in-depth understanding of Finite Element Methods and other Computational Mechanics principles, strong programming skills, adequate academic or industrial experience in the related fields, and ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine maintenance of core structural features, including structural elements and advanced simulation procedures. Main responsibilities include defect resolution, performance assessment and enhancement, and high level technical support.Design and develop efficient, robust, and customer oriented structural simulation features, according to project requirements and established quality standards.Participate in product integration across business units to consolidate and migrate relevant structural simulation technologies, designs, and implementations.Create development/Unit testing of new features.Prepare product references, release documentation, demonstration manuals, and other technical / marketing materials.Participate in team project planning, design sessions, and other team functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or related field with 2 years' experience or MS.Experience of commercial software packages with various usages of nonlinear finite element analysis.Strong scientific programming background in the development & application of finite element analysis techniques.Proficiency in FORTRAN, C/C++, Python, Microsoft Visual Studio environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Aerospace Engineering.Technical knowledge and experience with object-oriented programming, scripting languages, data structures and algorithms.Experience in composite simulations, damage and material modeling, and Computational Geometry.Experience in thermal and coupled physics analysis is also desirable.Ability to work well with peers and all levels of management.Self motivated with excellent learning skills to expore new areas.Ability to work in a geographically distributed development environment which requires excellent communication skills.Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
