Position Purpose:
Under limited supervision, performs radiographic procedures at a level not requiring constant guidance or assistance. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment in applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. Assumes responsibility for particular areas of specialization as assigned.
What you will Do:
Performs all routine radiographic procedures and views according to department procedures.
Performs and/or assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
Prepares and/or administers contrast media, i.e., orally, IV, rectally, etc. per department and Radiologist's policies.
Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomical positioning skills. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards, ALARA
Demonstrates complete working knowledge of routine radiographic equipment within the department.
Performs portable radiologic procedures in surgery, emergency room or inpatient rooms.
Checks requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions; consults with Radiologist or other physician as necessary.
Performs daily warm-up for radiographic room (where applicable), safety and visual maintenance checks and reports results to appropriate personnel.
Retrieves and calls reports to physician offices, nursing units, surgery, ER, etc. upon requests.
Completes all paperwork where applicable including consent forms.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be ARRT registered and registered by the State of Iowa.
Prefer one year of experience in hospital setting.
Must maintain BLS certification.
