The primaryresponsibility and expertise are to support, configure, maintain, andinstall radio systems and the encompassing technologies. This positionwill assist in developing, recommending, and implementing standards forradio systems within all DOC institutions (adult institutions,correctional centers and juvenile institutions) included but not limitedto hardware, software and network standards for these systems. Theposition will assist in managing DOC radio systems including fleetmapping, maintenance and audit of Code Plug data for programmableradios, maintaining inventory of radio equipment, coordinating purchaseof equipment to ensure compatibility and cost effectiveness, coordinatewith outside agencies interoperability of radio equipment andfrequencies, assist purchasing agent in development of requests forpurchase for radio systems and equipment, and assist in administrationof FCC frequencies licensed to DOC. This position will assist inconnecting these systems to existing state networks and stay up to datewith networking & I.T. principles in line with Wisconsin BTM. Extensivefield work and travel are incorporated in this position with \"handson\" work in installing and maintaining these systems. This positionwill work closely with DOC and other facilities, DOA facilitiesmanagement, and vendors in lifecycle management of radio-based systems.
The person assigned to this position will be required to assist indirecting vendors in installation and maintenance of these systems.
