Description
Musco Sports Lighting is seeking an R&D Prototype Technician to assist the Research and Development team with building and development of working prototypes of new design concepts. The ideal candidate would have some experience with injection molding, CNC machining, and/or tool and die making as well as ability to read engineering documents and use of CAD software.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Build Engineering prototypes-new products, special builds, etc.
Program and operate CNC Vertical machining center, EDM, and Injection mold machine.
Use Pro/E, Pro/E Machining and/or MasterCam to design and build tooling.
Use Pro/E, Pro/E Machining and/or MasterCam to make prototype parts for Engineering.
Assist in building small production quantities for field testing.
Design and build test apparatus using written and verbal direction
Set up and conduct lab and field testing using written and verbal direction
Job Specifications:
Strong knowledge in design of Injection Molding dies.
Strong knowledge and proficient use of CAD and CAD/CAM software. Including Pro/E, Pro/E Machining, Pro/E Mold Flow, and/or MasterCam.
Strong machining background. Ability to setup and operate vertical machining center. Knowledge of cutter and speeds and feeds.
Ability to read engineering drawings, do mathematical calculations for part making and make prototypes from verbal communication.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Associates degree in machining or tool and die making preferred.
Proficient in the use of Pro/E, Pro/E Machining, and/or MasterCam.
5 years’ experience in the design, build, and running of injection mold dies preferred.
