Job Description
In this position you will be joining Intel Labs and shape the future of computing by leading a team of incredibly talented engineers on the challenging task of building the control electronics for a practical quantum computer. The team is focused on leveraging the latest Intel process, packaging, and integration technologies to develop novel qubit control architectures and circuits that can scale to millions of qubits. You will be responsible for architecting, designing, and testing complex mixed-signal system-on-chip (SoC) and FPGA solutions that can interface the microinstruction layer of the quantum computing stack to the actual qubits by generating the complex control signals required to drive and read qubit states. You will work in close collaboration with both the software (SW)/algorithms and the qubit development teams.
At Intel we are approaching the problem holistically at the full stack, and so it is expected that you can efficiently interact with other teams outside your direct area of expertise to research and develop optimized qubit control solutions. Responsibility includes leading the team for complex SoC designs and testing, managing aggressive tape-out schedules, strategizing, and planning future research agenda and managing the team for growth and career development. Direct contributions for circuit design, innovation and testing is also expected.
Qualifications
You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must possess a PhD degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience, with focus on integrated circuit design or RF systems.
5+ years of experience on 2 or more below areas:
Experience in leading teams through complex tape-outs and design projects and managing the overall research agenda.Experience in overall silicon prototyping flow (design, validation, layout, tape-out, testing)Experience in high-level system design and validation with behavioral models (e.g. MATLAB, Verilog, Veriloga, System Verilog, etc...);Experience of architecture, design, implementation, and verification of RF/mixed-signal systems, including circuit blocks such as LNAs, Mixers, PAs, PLLs, VCOs, ADCs, DACs.Good DSP/signal processing and digital design skills.CMOS process and device physics.Semiconductor packaging and post-silicon chip testing.h RF/analog/mixed signal/digital testing in the lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
Good understanding of electro-magnetic modeling and simulation tools.Basic understanding of Quantum Computing.Good overall understanding of current state-of-the-art for qubit design, fabrication, and control (preferred focus on spin qubits).Hands-on experience with qubit characterization and control with dilution refrigerators and room lab-grade control electronics.
