POSITION OBJECTIVES: Constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Identifies parts for replacement and machines that need new parts and places orders as necessary. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Typically reports to Pump Mechanic IV or Production Manager.
· Inspect pumps for repair.
· Use various power tools to disassemble and reassemble pumps for repair.
· Remove tanks and pump ends from units.
· Maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.
· Clean parts with parts washer and hand-held grinding wheel.
· Use overhead crane and powered industrial trucks to handle materials.
· Responsible for maintaining proper attendance.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School diploma or GED required; Entry Level Position.
· General knowledge of mechanics is required.
· Experience with portable construction pumps, pipe fusing, dewatering and wastewater by-pass operations is highly desired.
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
· Must be able to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook, safety plans/programs, safety training materials and SDS sheets.
· Requires the ability to use various measuring devices.
