Position Summary
The Project Manager will report to a Senior Manager in Practice Technology - Disputes. Requirements include 4+ years of law firm, eDiscovery vendor, or Big4 eDiscovery experience, with a strong emphasis on bankruptcy, disputes, white collar, competition, international arbitration, and disclosure in general. This is a highly technical role, requiring familiarity with day to day operations and use of eDiscovery technology including data processing tools, hosting platforms (Relativity experience required) and analytics/TAR/Predictive Coding (Relativity or Brainspace strongly preferred). The successful candidate will have an interest in, and be enthusiastic to adopt, new technologies in the legal sector including the use of GenerativeAI to enhance review workflows. Aptitude and awareness of the evolving legal technology and automation landscape a strong preference.
The position will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating and tracking project progress and workflow from inception to trial. Strong Relativity database and analytics experience required. Strong experience with Brainspace workflows and analytics a plus (or similar applications). Experience designing eDiscovery databases and reports; reviewing and quality checking database data loads; coordinating complex projects; developing recommendations, plans, cost estimates, budgets, procedures, and specifications for case-specific projects from discovery to trial phase; drafting project proposals and provide status reports; providing end user support and customer service; troubleshooting litigation support firm applications; processing experience a plus. This position requires flexibility in work hours, and will probably include periodically working evenings and weekends.
Also necessary are strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines, effectively manage multiple responsibilities, and meet budget and deadline demands. Familiarity with trial presentation software, Sanction or Trial Director is preferred. Familiarity with on-line presentation services like Opus, TrialView, or Legal Radius is a plus. On-site trial experience is a plus.
Duties and Accountabilities 1
Working with case teams to plan electronic discovery projects for both ESI and paper files, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of ESI. Working with internal e-discovery solutions as well as our Managed Services partner or other external vendors to oversee all eDiscovery/Disclosure matters handled both internally and externally. Overseeing each project and ensuring quality and success through actions. Consulting with case teams regarding best practices for document management, electronic discovery, and matter workflow. Preparing recommendations, budgets, and project plans. Communicating with case teams on discovery management issues, such as budget status and production planning. Reporting to case teams and management on project status. Tracking and analyzing incoming client data. Designing databases in vendor applications and internal litigation support applications. Advising and recommending vendor selection. Ability to travel domestic and internationally to support cases Tracking time (both billable and non-billable) in the firms time tracking application.
