Location/Division Specific Information
The position will be site based in Madison, WI. The Project Manager II, Cell Biology reports to the Senior Manager of Project Management within the Cell Biology Business unit which is part of the Biosciences Division (BID).
Discover Impactful Work:
The Project Manager II, Cell Biology, at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for managing Cell Biology Custom Service projects for clients in different areas of Cell Biology. The successful candidate will be process-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to balance multiple tasks at a time. Must be capable of communicating effectively and work collaboratively with their cross functional partners including Sales, Operations, R&D and Product Management and have a background in Biology/Biochemistry. Will drive high quality execution of customer projects, creating a world class customer experience.
A Day in the Life:
Manages all aspects of Cell Biology Custom Services in close partnership with the Operations team that executes on the projects and with colleagues on the PMO team.
Creates quotes, manages incoming orders and is responsible for invoicing.
Monitors project progress through regular communication with the Operations and R&D teams, tracking forecast revenue and key performance indicators.
Provides timely customer reports and updates.
Supports a team of project managers in different administrative aspects of project management, including order entry and invoicing for work completed.
Generates weekly reports through our database system to be used by the team to stay aware of the status of projects, forecast revenue, and track metrics.
Advocate for and help drive process improvement projects.
Keys to Success:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, or Sciences required.Experience
0-2 years' experience.
Industry experience in Project Management roles or R&D/Operations managing projects is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Requires strong organizational, planning, verbal, written and numerical skills with the ability to analyze and define solutions and manage multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines.
Requires strong and effective communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients.
Requires excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Requires PC knowledge and skill sets utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) products.
