Provide project management direction from inception to completion of projects; to be the primary contact in concert with the Project Management Principal Engineer and Project Management Administrative Engineer for other public agencies, special interest groups and the general public regarding project activities; to establish effective long-term relationships with local units of government; and to provide overall direction and leadership to technical project teams in the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques in the management of project activities for minor, moderate and major scale projects to meet the project requirements; to ensure consistency with MnDOT strategy, commitments and goals; and to ensure proper program execution and compliance with MnDOT, state and federal procedures, practices, regulations, and standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design(AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.
If advanced to the finalist pool, you will be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to clearly and concisely communicate information to customers, stakeholders and occasionally the public.
Human relations skills sufficient to build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external partners.
Conflict management, consensus building and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of Project Management principles, practices, and techniques.
Knowledge of scoping documents, environmental documentation, preliminary and final designs, geometric layouts, construction, plan content and organization; and cost estimating.
Class D Driver’s License if driving a state vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of CADD, Windows based operating systems, spreadsheet, and word-processing software applications.
Knowledge of MnDOT policies, procedures, HPDP, ADA requirements, Geometric Design Standards, MnDOT Specifications, Sample Plans, and State and Federal statute and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of critical path scheduling theory, applications, and tools (e.g., Artemis Project View (APV) or Prima Vera (P6).
