Become a Project Controls Advisor and work in the Major Projects Organization (MPO) within the Project Controls Department of the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Organization unit at Southern California Edison (SCE). The Project Controls Advisor plays a crucial role in the Major Projects Organization at Southern California Edison, leading the effort to consolidate scope and cost for projects ranging from ~$25M to $1B+. In this role, you will ensure projects follow the stage gate process and assist the Project Manager with receiving executive approval for projects throughout their lifecycle. In addition to aggregating and reporting on estimated project costs, you will develop responses to regulatory and legal data requests as they pertain to the estimated costs. You will also be a subject matter expert on project estimation and aggregation methodology, including risk and contingency application.

Work with Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Finance, Law, Regulatory, and others to: Ensure the seamless gathering of project information for high value/visibility projects and prepare project updates and presentations to Executive Leadership. Develop written testimony and project work papers and lead the effort in responding to data requests during regulatory filings for the projects described above. Plan, schedule, and manage the process for gathering scope and cost for project aggregations at each stage gate from all disciplines. Analyze cost estimates to verify that they are in-line with historical benchmarks for projects with comparable scope. Investigate rationale and drivers for estimates that are out-of-line with historical costs or expectations with estimators from functional groups Oversee and report on resource utilization and upcoming efforts for project aggregations and regulatory support Manage supporting documentation for stage gate updates and regulatory filings Provide input in the development of internal policies and guidelines Peer review project aggregations. Operate with minimal supervision
Qualifications
The essentials
7 or more years of experience in coordinating project cost development and/or project controls (e.g. scheduling, estimating, budgeting)
The preferred
Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Project/Construction Management, or Engineering Project Management Certification, Project Controls Certification (i.e. AACE) or equivalent Experience with legal writing and/or the utility regulatory process Experience in supporting large capital projects Experience using Power BI or similar tools to develop dashboards and reporting Experience developing financial reports to executive management Experience developing strategic intent in reports and regulatory filings Experience with Electrical Utility projects, project risk and contingency, estimating methodology, or project cost forecasting
You should know
This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
