Objectives and Scope
The Project Controller is responsible to support the program managers and engineering team by continually monitoring, analyzing, and reporting project status and variances. The Project Controller will act as an ambassador of sound business practices and modern business analytics approaches. The Project Controller is actively involved with the program managers to establish project schedules, budgets and forecast for capital, personnel, and non-personnel costs. Will play a critical role in understanding the manufacturing cost structure and will be the liaison between the manufacturing facility, the sales team, and the MFS corporate team. Responsible for developing and maintaining program specific financials. Additional responsibilities include profitability reporting & business planning.
Key Responsibilities
Quoting Process
Support the implementation of new processes, standards to support the Global Quoting Process from a financial perspective
Recommend / Identify improvements to the quote cost models and other finance tools.
Ensure all costs are accurate and included in the cost model.
Support Sales with contracts regarding fixed cost clauses, financial terms, and conditions, etc.
Financial analysis and financial steering of projects
Generate financial analysis and sensitivity analysis of projects.
Provide the project team with financial advice.
Analysis of business cases.
Support Pre-operational cost tracking and reporting.
Maintain product cost routings in the ERP system and ensure accuracy.
Cost break-down & other financial information for customers
Support the program team in generating cost breakdowns for the customer.
Prepare financial information to support sales negotiation.
Preparation of data for the management
Generate monthly/quarterly reports for SLT & MFS Group Office to enable right decisions.
Support budget process
Other duties as assigned
Support sales/operations with collection and presentation of data relating to commercial issues (volume shortfall claims, material pass thru agreements and capacity increases, etc)
Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits improvement suggestions (CI, Safety).
Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including TS16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook.
Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment). Reports unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Leader.
Education & Experiences Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Finance
5+ years of professional experience in related positions preferably within the automotive industry
Financial background preferred
Additional Skills Required
Language Skills: Requires extensive tact and communication skills (verbal and written) for direct customer communication. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Able to communicate in English effectively (both written and oral).
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to create and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to use problem solving when presented with problems or duties that do not have immediate answers or results.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient on the computer, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Communication Skills : Ability to use active listening and assertive communication when needed. Ability to give positive and constructive feedback effectively.
Problem Solving Skills: Basics understanding of 5 Why mythology, skillful in analysis of problems, research to identify root causes and find solutions, creativity to find robust and effective solutions to problems. Able to make decisions based on available information.
