The programs' team philosophy is to provide a positive, dignified environment that helps individuals gain self-awareness, knowledge and skills needed for reentry into society. As Programs Facilitators, we provide educational services through the facilitation of cognitive-behavioral based therapy, substance abuse, and workforce readiness programs for participants both in-custody and at the Community Transition Center. The evidence-based curriculums we use address areas of risk that contribute to an individual remaining in the criminal justice system. The position is located in the Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO), Court Services Bureau in Boise, Idaho.
Distinguishing Features of the Class:
The incumbent performs complex, sensitive and varied work under general direction. The position will be required to exercise discretion and independent judgment to accomplish work.

Essential Functions
Provides group education to participants in corrections and transitional settings to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, substance abuse, workforce readiness and creative expressions;
Participates in evaluating the effectiveness of in custody and out of custody classes and programs;
Maintains individual inmate documentation in regards to participants’ progress in classes;
Monitors participant’s behavior to maintain discipline and ensure safety and security of fellow participants, self, staff, equipment, and materials;
Maintains knowledge of trauma informed and evidence-based approaches to facilitation;
Consults with other teams regarding participation progress and/or recommendations;
Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in any field required;
Knowledge of best practice in treatment of chemical dependency, treatment services, and cognitive-behavioral programs preferred;
Skill in effective group facilitation;
Skill in working with individuals in the criminal justice system;
Ability to balance consistent program delivery while maintaining jail security and appropriate ethical boundaries;
Ability to independently plan, organize and accomplish work assignments;
Ability to maintain confidentiality; and
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Other Requirements
Attends regular staff meetings and works in conjunction with staff of the Ada County jail;
Must appear before an oral board and successfully complete a polygraph and background investigation;
This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed primarily in a jail facility; the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions;
Position frequently requires a combination of sitting and standing to accomplish tasks and the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.;
Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment and in a classroom setting to accomplish tasks.
SHIFT INFORMATION
Generally Monday - Friday, day shift hours, with some flexibility required.
