Summary The Environmental Management Service (EMS) at the Lake City VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Program Support Assistant. The Program Support Assistant monitors Bed Management Services (BMS) for bed readiness relative to patient tracking. The Incumbent monitors and informs the Nursing Supervisor and Housekeeping Aide Supervisors of the bed capacity and available bed locations for making informed decisions about the hospital's census based on EMS bed cleaning data. Responsibilities The Program Support Assistant monitors Bed Management Services (BMS) for bed readiness relative to patient tracking. Duties include but are not limited to: Uses office automation systems and various Microsoft Office packages and programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to accomplish work. Coordinates with hospital staff to minimize workflow constraints and ensure appropriate staff coverage during shifts. Ensures that bed turnover (the time a bed is vacated) to the time it is cleaned, pull times (times between a patient being admitted to the hospital and reaching a bed) is less than 60 minutes. Dispatches to Environmental Management Services (EMS) Supervisors, Bed Management system and Nursing Service bed cleaning upon notification that discharge has occurred ie. various types of isolation. Changes status of all bed icon relative to EMS once beds are cleaned and communicated to the Nursing Supervisor. Monitors and manages business papers, externals/ internal correspondence and records. Establishes and maintains all office and backup files. Processes monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
