  Job Description

  Program Manager, High School Sports

  The Program Manager, High School Sports is responsible for overseeing, managing, and coordinating all aspects of Success Academy's high school athletic programs, including overseeing Electives classes and organizing JV and varsity teams to compete in external scholastic sports leagues. This role involves promoting physical well-being, sportsmanship, healthy competition, and teamwork among scholars while providing inclusive opportunities for them to engage in physical activities and compete at a high level in various sports.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Program Development:

  Develop and implement a comprehensive and inclusive sports program across all Success Academy high schools which provides access and opportunity to all high school scholars.Establish long-term goals and strategies to enhance the overall quality and reputation of the high school athletic programs.Develop and implement a model for high school sports that is scalable as additional high schools are added.Develop, implement and oversee the sports based curriculum with periodization, ensuring that it aligns with educational standards and promotes physical fitness, skill development, and overall well-being.Create detailed age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that facilitate physical movement and learning through a variety of sports with benchmarks for skill progression.Promote the importance of physical activity and its role in overall well-being and academic achievement.Design initiatives to encourage scholars to engage in regular physical activity and develop a lifelong interest in sports and physical activity.Analyze data to devise action plans to support scholar achievement.Create systems to ensure leaders and coaches are using data to drive athletic instruction.Oversee all aspects of the high school sports program, including team selection, practice schedules, competitive schedules, and league rules.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards for each sport.Register high school teams to participate in external sports leagues, tournaments and competitions.Coordinate logistics, travel arrangement, and scheduling for away games and events.Foster a culture of sportsmanship, fair play, and teamwork among scholar-athletes.

  Hiring and Ongoing Evaluation of Coaches:

  Recruit, hire, and provide ongoing support for coaches and assistant coaches for each sports team, ensuring that they possess the necessary qualifications and commitment to developing scholars both on and off the field.Oversee high school coaches and develop processes where coaches are consistently observed, evaluated, and provided detailed feedback and instruction on how they can improve performance.Ensure that smart classroom management is implemented across all high school sports programs with consistent oversight and evaluation.Foster a positive and supportive working environment for high school coaches that encourages accountability, professionalism, and a growth mindset.Provide regular professional development opportunities to coaches with a universal foundation so that coaches have a similar base and language to draw from.Use data and feedback to identify areas of improvement and tailor coaching techniques accordingly.Conduct regular meetings and workshops to equip coaches with the necessary resources and guidance to create a positive and enriching experience for scholar-athletes.

  Safety and Inclusivity:

  Prioritize the safety and well-being of scholars during all sports related activities and ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards.Develop a culture that encourages inclusivity and diversity in sports participation, creating an environment where all scholars feel welcome to join and excel.Promote sportsmanship and accountability among scholars and coaches ensuring that competition takes place in a healthy environment.Ensure compliance with all relevant sports regulations, league rules, and safety standards for each sport.Establish protocols and procedures for injury prevention, emergency response, and athlete well-being during practices and games.

  Promotion and Engagement:

  Promote the high school sports program so as to enhance scholar recruitment, hiring, and programming highlights.Actively communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about the sports activities offered in high schools.Engage with the local community to promote the high school sports program, potentially establish partnerships with local sports organizations, and foster a strong sense of school spirit.Establish positive relationships with school leaders (Principals, Scholar Talent Managers, BOMs etc) and other key stakeholders across the network.Communicate regularly with parents, students, and school staff about upcoming high school sports events, tryouts, and results.Utilize various communication channels, such as newsletters, social media, and school websites, to promote the middle school sports program.

  Facilities/Equipment, Resources and Budget Management:

  Manage the inventory of high school sports equipment and uniforms, ensuring they are well-maintained and available for high school sports programs when needed.Deploy coaches and equipment in an efficient manner to maximize the effectiveness of resources.Identify resource needs and work with Finance to develop and properly manage the budget for the high school sports program, including expenses for equipment, uniforms, referees, and travel, if applicable.Support key cross-content initiatives and program needs including partnering with Operations on event and club planning and logistics, including facilities and space requirements.Execute team processes and project guidelines, and communicate effectively with key stakeholders.Coordinate with school administrators to ensure adequate access to sports facilities and fields for practices and games.Ensure that sports facilities, fields, and gymnasiums are well-maintained and available for practices, games, and Electives classes.

  The Program Manager, High School Sports plays a vital role in instilling a love for physical activity by overseeing a program that provides scholars with opportunities to engage in sports, compete in a healthy competitive environment, and build essential life skills. By coordinating multiple teams and competitions within various external leagues, and exposing scholars to training and competition, the Program Manager, High School Sports contributes to the overall growth and success of the athletic program and fosters a culture of excellence and belonging within the school community. The Program Manager inspires the next generation of Success Academy scholars and nurtures future scholar athletes.

  Compensation Range

  Annual Salary: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00
