About the role
We are looking for a PRODUCTION TEAM MEMBERS / WELDERS / CNC OPERATORS / SPAY PAINTERS for our Spence Doors business based in Forest Glen QLD. In this role you will produce high quality timber and metal work within commercial and domestic industries. Operate machinery safely and efficiently according to operating standards/instructions and in line with health and safety regulations, practices and legislation.
General Accountabilities / Responsibilites
Adjust components where necessary using a grinder or other cutting tools.
Operate a range of different machinery to build door frames and doors i.e., Beam Saws, Routers, Edge Banders, Brake Presses, Turrets etc.
Fit components using jigs.
General jobbing work fitting special hardware.
Read and understand workshop drawings.
Fabrication of profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery.
Identify material types.
Conduct quality control checks on own work.
Complete required paperwork.
Welding
MIG and TIG light gauge steel 1.1mm to 3mm – Zincaneal, Galvabond, Mild Steel and Stainless Steel.
Grind and clean all steel, polish stainless Steel.
Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet required standards and structural integrity.
Spay Painter
Spray Paint / Paint required surfaces per specification (doors, galvanize)
Determine and apply appropriate coating systems for painting ferrous metals which may/may not be subject to submergence in water, sewage, or corrosive environments
Maintain safety standards in the performance of duties
Correct work as directed; repair nicks, scratches or other small imperfections in the finish
CNC Operator
Prepare and operate the CNC machines to perform required tasks such as routing, folding, cutting etc.
Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading customer drawings, mechanical drawings etc.
Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
Resolve any discrepancies with project specific shop drawings with sales, engineering or customers to ensure that all products are fit for purpose.
Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate any numbers of parts.
Monitor the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
Key Position Criteria
Tradesperson or equivalent
Previous experience in manufacturing / Welding / CNC / Spay Painting
Work within tolerance; ensure quality in the product.
Maintaining production levels as required.
Sound written and verbal communication skills.
Comply with standards and procedures of Spence Doors following WHS guidelines and wear personal protective equipment.
Ability and willingness to follow direction as well as the ability to work independently.
Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square.
Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specification.
Must be able to operate sheet metal machinery and welding equipment.
Report all defective parts and materials to Leading Hand.
