A Producer for 20/20 is required to produce long form programming for our primetime hours on the ABC Network schedule. Long form programming includes hours, or multiple hours where the narrative is created by an interview, or a single story. Looking for seasoned content creators with proven experience pitching, developing and structuring two hour narrative yarns. The expectation is this candidate will be able to be comfortable wearing many hats including reporter, interviewer, field producer, and writer. Ability to take full ownership of a show from development through air is key. Ideal candidate should have a passion for true crime stories and the ability and desire to work on tight deadlines. Candidates may be expected to travel on short notice and join breaking news specials.
Responsibilities:
Specific Responsibilities include pitching story ideas, arranging shoots, field producing, scripting, booking characters/experts, and producing in the edit room.
Candidates must exhibit superior news judgment, be creative and resourceful in the field, and have extensive reporting and producing experience.
They need to be able to visualize their hours in creative ways to propel the narratives.
They must exhibit outstanding writing skills, the ability to balance multiple projects, and possess effective communication and collaboration skills.
Candidates must be experienced, professional self-starters who are able to craft high-end pieces under intense pressure against a deadline.
Candidates may be expected to travel on short notice.
Some proficiency with shooting and some editing is expected.
Maintain constant communication with senior management.
Candidates are also expected to foster an inclusive and positive work environment.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 5 years in news magazine production or the equivalent
Ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment
Strong ethical core
Non-Technical Skills: Multitasking, strong writing and organizational ability, attention to detail

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $114,500- $157,400 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
