Job Description
Sourcing & Enterprise Services (S&ES) delivers world-class procurement capabilities to Pfizer, partnering with internal Pfizer customers to ensure they receive maximum value for every dollar spent with Pfizer suppliers. Reporting to the Director at the PGS Ringaskiddy API Manufacturing site, the Business Engagement Partner is a manager responsible for driving efficiencies and continuous improvement in cost/cash/value, quality and supply of raw materials for existing and new products, ensuring that stakeholder requirements are met, and that vendor performance is measured and maintained at the appropriate service levels in the area of management. The role provides operational and strategic procurement support, is expected to manage critical stakeholder engagements, and fosters strong working relationships within the extended Global S&ES Team. It delivers sourcing strategies and procurement business processes operations at the site, in collaboration with Global Category Management (CM) and Category Execution (CE) teams, and other Global Business Engagement teams, as appropriate. The Business Engagement Partner is responsible for developing, managing and enhancing supplier relationships and seeking continuous improvement opportunities for delivering value, including year on year cost savings, within the direct material spend categories at the Ringaskiddy PGS manufacturing site. This is achieved through data analysis and reporting, market intelligence gathering, project management, and the support of complex local sourcing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
I - Sourcing Activity and Contract Negotiations
-Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans, processes and tools as appropriate for locally managed materials. Serve as primary site representative to lead sourcing initiatives, proposal development, options analysis, evaluation and selection of suppliers and materials to obtain best value
-Identify, and when appropriate, lead and manage cost and contract negotiations, ensuring that price, quality and service targets and standards are achieved
-For locally managed materials, create, approve and maintain contracts, where appropriate, to ensure terms are supported by both Supplier and Pfizer within designated authority limits, ensuring compliance with legislation and the company's policies and procedures
-Lead and support complex local sourcing initiatives and negotiations ensuring that value is realized through achieving the necessary quality and service at the most competitive cost in the market
II - Supplier Relationship Management:
-Develop supplier relationships in line with business requirements by maintaining positive relationship with vendors
-Evaluate and measure vendor performance of strategic and tactical suppliers. In particular, contribute to enrich the supply base knowledge through Category Team meetings
-Ensure timely delivery and specified quality levels are achieved and when necessary, resolve escalated quantity and/or service issues with appropriate people
-Support efforts to implement new or alternative materials and specifications with existing suppliers
-Benchmark and recommend process improvement & operational efficiency initiatives; lead where appropriate
-Work with quality, technical, purchasing groups to determine and aid suppliers with implementing process capability & reliability measures for key sources
-Support site efforts to drive down total cost and reduce cycle time
III - Client Engagement and Customer Relationship Management:
-Proactively gain involvement and participation of key stakeholders on procurement initiatives
-Arrange, attend and participate in customer meetings. Raise questions and provide information to identify alternative solutions to customer needs
-Proactively engage with key customers; initiating meetings to partner in identifying opportunities to build & implement improved supply solutions and best practices
IV - Category strategy collaboration and operational implementation
-Support global and regional CM/CE Teams in strategy definition, developing synergies within the region and wider Small Molecule Operations (SMO) network of sites, including developing and maintaining local supplier and market intelligence
-Seek, identify and leverage cost savings opportunities
-Seek, identify and share opportunities for continuous improvement in Procurement and business process tools, as well as supplier alignment and material selection
-Develop and maintain supply chain risk assessments and drive supply chain risk mitigation activities as prioritized
-Annually establish a plan of action to achieve agreed to savings results and effectively coordinate and collaborate with all S&ES teams as applicable to leverage synergies
-Apply appropriate strategic sourcing elements and associated tools for all projects and educate cross-functional teams in best practice
-Identify ways of improving the Procurement processes, tools, policies and procedures, to drive efficiency and proactive engagement in opportunities
V - Compliance and Reporting:
-Ensure efficient operation of transactional activity to meet cost, quality and customer expectations in compliance with site and government policies, including compliance to S&ES standards as appropriate
-Support the Director in the annual budget, savings forecast and PPV review processes
-Ensure Procurement metrics are in place for area of responsibility
-Ensure savings and value added activities are tracked and reported into appropriate tools
Requirements
-Diploma/Degree in business, science, or equivalent with IIPMM or APICS preferred
-Minimum 5 years' experience working in a complex regulated manufacturing environment, ideally within a large multi-national company
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong technical skills and a good knowledge of processes and chemistry would be a distinct advantage
-Understanding of core principles of cGMP and EHS as they relate to Direct Procurement practices
-Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills, negotiation skills, problem solving and decision making skills, with the ability to work as an individual and effectively contribute as part of a team
-Good communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Fluent English a must
-Business needs analysis and stakeholder management skills
-Project management and facilitation skills
-Understanding of the end to end Procurement process including experience of Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
-Solid IT skills - particularly in spreadsheet, word processing and presentation packages. Proficiency with SAP a bonus
