The Third Party (3P) Process Engineering (PE) team is a group of operational leaders driving process stabilization, standardization and continuous improvement. An Amazon AIR 3P Process Engineer (PE) is responsible for 3-5 third party air gateway facilities. Candidates will manage the inverse relationship between cost and service, developing innovative ideas which create value for our customers. 3P PEs have customer impact by identifying and solving operational deficiencies, deep diving data, using engineering principles in the development of processes and planning tools, and project management skills to implement change. 3P PE’s act locally, but build globally, standardizing AIR’s 3P operations
The candidate can be based in any of our BB buildings ( KAFW, KLAL, KCVG, KBWI or KSBD) The candidate will be expected to travel 50% of the time to support 3P Gateways across the country.
This position requires an employee’s full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute their job duties to ensure the safety and security of Amazon AIR personnel, third-party contractors, Airport personnel, cargo, and equipment. This position is therefore designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and, where permitted, post-hire drug testing.
Key job responsibilities
Plan, organize, implement, and manage capital and process improvement projects.
Evaluating network capacity
Building short term and long term business specific models
Planning and designing systems that meet business needs by improving integration of people, materials, equipment, software, and finance
Recommending and implementing changes to safety procedures, work methods, and labor standards
Project management from conception to completion for field locations
Set clear goals and lead a team to directly or indirectly achieve those goals
Conduct and lead project meetings with Senior Management
Assessing and optimizing processes and equipment used in the facility
Typical projects could include spearheading floor layout redesign, evaluating ergonomic needs and issues within work areas, or conducting a capacity planning and analysis study for peak season
Travel up to 50-75% of the time as this role will be required to travel to, and work, at multiple sites
A day in the life
A 3P process engineer delivers innovative solutions to improve the customer experience. PEs travel to sites 50%-75% of their time, working with vendors to resolve issues and evaluate performance objectives and metrics across the network to proactively identify process improvement opportunities, improve operational performance, using data analysis to deep dive performance. This role will work with multiple Amazon organizations including: North America Fulfillment Center (NAFC), North America Sort Centers (NASC), World wide Design Engineering (WWDE), Finance, Safety, Vendor Management, Operations, Network Planning, Security, and Airport affairs. PEs are technical experts of Amazon systems, and are in the unique position to combine expertise between multiple organizations bringing solutions to fruition.
About the team
The 3P Process Engineering team is broken into multiple geographic regions. Each region consists of 3 to 5 process engineers, which mirrors the operations management structure. 3P process engineers are a remote workforce, traveling to sites 50% - 75% of their time executing, measuring and supporting communication of project impacts in partnership with the Regional Gateway manager's (RGM) across the Air network. Basic Qualifications
4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
Bachelor's degree
Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
Experience with financial and statistical modelling
Experience working under pressure in a cross-functional organization
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
Experience working with and managing third party vendors
Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing
Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field
Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment
Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing
Experience with benchmarking technical equipment and metrics
Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $61,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
